TRIP AROUND THE WORLD 2003. (USA, Fiji, New Zealand and Japan)
This report is in the first place intended for relatives, friends and acquaintances. Maybe not always
interesting for everybody. The pictures of our trip that are photographically more interesting will

50. Mudpools in the neighbourhood of Rotorua. Hot steam bubbling up from the mud.
51. The beautiful shapes created by this phenomenon.
52. Waikite. (Wai= water, kite= hot) From this spring emerges water of 98 degrees centigrade. It is cooled down to just under 40 degr. and then fed into a pool. The next pool is a bit cooler. Nice to wallow around in for hours.
53. Waikite. Not far from touristic Rotorua, which is a lot more expensive. Campsite with pool. NZ$ 30,- (less than 15 Euro) for a camper with 3 persons including electricity hook-up and swimming as much and as often as you want. The small restaurant has good food for a very reasonable price.
54. At the end of the trip the camper has to be brought back clean. Ranto likes the job.
55. At the beginning of our stay in NZ we were picked up from the airport by Margaret Earl. We did a tour of the city and the first night we stayed at her house. Also the last night we stayed with her and she took us back to the airport, which was a great help for us. From left to right: Margaret, her daughter Allyson, Keiko and Ranto with the cat Mojo. Keiko met Margaret in Ireland in a hostel and later they met again by chance in England in an other hostel. They have been corresponding ever since.
